Advances in large language models (LLMs) have enabled persona AI capable of simulating dialogues that mimic specific personalities, with applications in education, design, and entertainment. This study introduces Actor AI, developed on Stanislavski’s acting theory to emulate dramatic characters through interactive dialogue. Actor AI analyzes plays at the beat level, automatically generating character profiles with backstory and super-objective, as well as acting data including objectives, emotions, and subtext for each beat. Based on these, it engages in contextually appropriate dialogue. Evaluation by five theater experts showed that Actor AI outperformed ChatGPT-4.1 in 7 of 15 criteria, with comparable results in the remainder, excelling particularly in self-knowledge, memory recall, and acting analysis. Actor AI can offer audiences new post-performance experiences, serve as an edutainment tool in theater education, and provide directors and actors with creative inspiration.
